This 1998 cross of Hosta venusta x Hosta 'Dorset Blue' resulted in one of our all-time favorite Plant Delights introductions that we christened Hosta 'Gemstone'

This 1999 fairy wing introduction was discovered as a seedling in the garden of our friend and keen gardener

but what we do know is that it is one heck of a structural element in the garden

it has survived 6 degrees F with only slight foliage damage
